25 Minute Homemade Spaghetti

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

Spaghetti was the very first dish my mom taught me to make from scratch. It was a special moment in the kitchen that I will never forget. Over the years I've added to the recipe making it my own. I now put in an abundance of vegetables making it more nutritious and hearty. This easy recipe is also the perfect way to hide veggies in your children's foods. You can substitute any kind of pasta if you are not a spaghetti fan. You can also use this sauce as a base for Spaghetti, Lasagna, Stuffed Jumbo Shells, or Chicken Parmesan by eliminating the meat.

Ingredients

(Serves 4-6 people)

Meat & Protein

1 lb Ground Turkey (You can substitute the turkey for ground beef. You will just need to drain the grease before adding in the vegetables.)

Produce

2 Zucchini, whole

3 Carrots, whole

½ White Onion

½ Green Bell Pepper

3 -4 Garlic Cloves, whole

4 -5 Baby Portobello Mushrooms

Canned Goods

2 -14 ½ cans of Diced Tomatoes

1 -6 oz can of Tomato Paste

2 -14 ½ cans of Tomato Sauce

Baking & Spices

1 tbsp Salt (more, if desired)

1 tsp Cracked Black Pepper (more, if desired)

1 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tbsp Dried Italian Seasoning

1 ½ tbsp. Badia Complete Seasoning

1 tbsp Dried Oregano Seasoning

1 tsp. of White Sugar

Dairy

1/4 Shredded Parmesan Cheese (This can be substituted with Grated Parmesan Cheese.)

Liquids

3 Cups of Water

Oils & Vinegar

4 tbsp. Canola Oil (You can substitute with Vegetable Oil.)

1 tbsp. Olive Oil

Pasta Directions

  1. Add 3 cups of water to a large pot. Add in 2 tbsp. of Canola or Vegetable Oil, and a ½ tbsp. of Salt. Bring the water to a boil and then add in whatever pasta you choose. Cook the pasta through and drain the pot. Click Here to see examples of when pasta is fully cooked or al dente.

  2. When the pasta is cooked, rinsed and drained add the Olive Oil and ½ tbsp of Italian Seasoning. Stir until the pasta looks coated and set aside.

Red Sauce Directions

  1. While the pasta is cooking add 2 tbsp. of Canola or Vegetable Oil to a pan and heat. Add in the ground turkey and cook through on Medium Heat. If you are a vegetarian, this is your step to add in your vegetables.I also would suggest doubling the vegetables if you are not using meat.

  2. Season the meat or veggies with 1/4 tbsp. of Salt, ½ tbsp. of Cracked Black Pepper, 1 tsp. of Garlic Powder, ½ tbsp. of Dried Italian Seasoning, ½ tbsp. of Dried Oregano Seasoning, 1 tbsp. of Badia Complete Seasoning, and 1 tsp. of Sugar.

  3. While the Ground Turkey is cooking, dice the White Onions, Green Bell Peppers, Carrots, Zucchini, Garlic Cloves, and Baby Portobello Mushrooms. Add all of the vegetables in the pot once the ground turkey is cooked. Keep stirring making sure the vegetables are fully cooked.

  4. Add in 2 cans of Diced Tomatoes, 1 can of Tomato Paste, and 2 Cans of Tomato Sauce. Stir until blended. Add in the rest of the spices (½ tbsp. of Cracked Black Pepper, ½ tsp. of Garlic Powder, ½ tbsp. of Dried Oregano Seasoning, and ½ tbsp. of Badia Complete Seasoning).

  5. Add in 1/4 Cup of Parmesan Cheese. Let the sauce simmer until its ready to plate.

Now you have something cooked from the SOUL. Serve it to the CULTURE!
